Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco star as an all-illusionist supergroup using their powers to steal from the rich and give to the poor in the action film Now You See Me (out Jan. 18).
“They are modern-day Robin Hoods,” says director Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk).
Eisenberg, the group’s leader, plays a sleight-of-hand specialist, Harrelson is a hypnotist/mentalist, Franco is a pickpocket/generalist and Fisher stars as the world’s best-looking escapologist.
She is recruited to the group after showing off her skills with an elaborate stage escape from chains and a water tank.
“So many things can go wrong on something like this,” says Fisher, 36. “And I was doing the scene in high heels.”
Her co-stars have learned the skills of their characters’ professions for the just-completed shoot, which took them to locations in New Orleans, New York, Las Vegasand Paris. Franco, for example, mastered the art of card-throwing. “He takes a regular playing card and slings it with such force that he can cut a banana in half,” Leterrier says.
